Dreamologist Looking for Breakthrough Win in $100,000 Las Cienegas Stakes
On Sunday at Santa Anita, the track will host the $100,000 Las Cienegas Stakes. Scheduled to be run at about six and a half furlongs on the downhill turf, the Grade 3 event has drawn a field of eleven fillies and mares.
Dreamologist has been tabbed as the morning line favorite in the competitive field at odds of 7-2 and is one of two contenders for trainer Richard Mandella. A four-year-old daughter of Tapit, she is out of Breeders’ Cup champion Dreaming of Anna and has been on the board in six of her seven starts. She is trying to earn the fourth victory of her career as well as her first black type win. Flavien Prat will be in the irons and they will break from post position seven.
Smoove It looking for second straight stakes win
Second choice at morning line odds of 4-1 is Smoove It for trainer Doug O’Neill. Bred and owned by Reddam Racing, the California-bred daughter of Square Eddie is a five-time winner and is coming into this race after breaking through and earning her first stakes win last time out in the Irish O’Brien Stakes. Mario Gutierrez will be aboard and they are scheduled to break from the rail.
Miss Double d'Oro training sharply for this race
Also in the field at morning line odds of 5-1 is Miss Double d’Oro for trainer Neil Drysdale. A four-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, she has won three of her ten starts and is a multiple stakes winner. Last time out, she defeated Dreamologist to win the Arboretum II Stakes and has clocked a bullet workout since that race. Rafael Bejarano will be aboard from post position nine.
