Tiz Midnight Leads the Way in $75,000 Paseana Stakes
The $75,000 Paseana Stakes is the featured race January 11 at Santa Anita as a field of eight fillies and mares are set to contest the mile and one sixteenth event on the main track in an interesting betting race.
8/5 morning line favorite Tiz Midnight has been ultra-consistent throughout her career, finishing out of the money just once in nine starts – a sixth place finish in the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Distaff. However, the Bob Baffert trainee exits a grueling win in the Grade 2 Bayakoa – her first stakes victory - December 6 leaving many handicappers to question how much the effort took out of her. If Tiz Midnight is no worse for the wear after a month of recovery, she is well-positioned to earn her second graded stakes victory in a row.
My Sweet Addiction looking for stakes score
The lightly-raced My Sweet Addiction (3/1) seeks her first stakes victory as she tries to snap a three race losing streak. The Marty Jones trainee is two for six in her career, and has one win in four tries at Santa Anita. My Sweet Addiction will be ridden by Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith breaking from post number six.
Zenyatta's half sis looks to get on track
Eblouissante (10/1), the half-sister to superstar Zenyatta, began her once-promising career with back-to-back wins, but has not won again since. The six year-old mare has two wins in six career starts and will try to earn her first stakes victory after finishing seventh in an allowance race at Del Mar August 24.
